It’s official: ‘Rang De Basanti’ is going to be India’s entry to the Oscars this year by the Film Federation of India (FFI). The formal announcement was made by Film Maker Basu Chatterjee who headed the jury. ‘RDB’ has had a stiff competition this year from films like ‘Omkara’, ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’, ‘Krrish’, ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ and ‘Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota’. So, the big question on every one’s lips is…Will Aamir’s ‘RDB’ manage to do what his ‘Lagaan’ couldn’t?

CEO of UTV, Ronnie Screwvala, the Producer of the film is upbeat and he says that he will certainly utilize Aamir’s experience at the Oscars. Screwvala says that he has high hopes from his partner Disney and they also happen to share a special relationship with 20th Century Fox. ‘Rang De Basanti’ is also going to have a mainstream release in US between December and February which will further bolster its chances as more and more people will see it. Hence the buzz will hopefully reache the jury members as well.

IndiaGlitz wishes ‘Rang De Basanti’ all the best at this year’s Oscars…
